This term we are conducting science experiments each Friday. We have been working with Mrs Meikle, looking at the reaction between baking soda and vinegar. We used the gases produced from this reaction to blow up balloons! We used different sized bottles and noticed that the smaller bottles blew the balloons up more. (The fire engine in the background was NOT at school because of our experiments!)
Welcome to our Room 1 blog! We are a class of Year 0- 2 students at Awahono School - Grey Valley, in Ahaura, near Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Our teachers are Mrs Hahn and Mrs Meikle.

Hi Room One
ReplyDeleteWe really like the experiment you have done because it looked fun and blew up the balloon. Did any of the balloons pop?
Your experiment made us want to have a go at doing it too.
We wonder if you would like to try a different experiment with mentos in the cocacola and see what happens...?

Hi Room 2
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. Ollie's balloon exploded! The balloon was not on properly. Some of us have tried the coke and mentos experiment or seen it before, but we'd like to all have a go again. Thanks for the idea.

I like the experiment that room 1 did and also room 1 is so so creative.
ReplyDeleteThank you Miley
